One of the unique values of an association is the opportunity it provides to pool knowledge and develop useful tools for everyone in the business. Through the years, the AICP has issued vital documents,such as the National Guidelines and the AICP bidform, which over time have become firmly established, and now serve as standard business procedure. Along with the Standard Commercial Production Agreement, these instruments were developed by the AICP national organization and distributed to the chapters for use by all members. Other forms, such as the Commercial Filmmakers' Code of Professional Responsibility and the Location Permit Checklist, were initiated and refined by one of AICP's chapters, and then disseminated for use by the wider membership. Whether the Association is outlining recommended business practices, updating existing standards, or negotiating agreements for specific situations,such as the contract riders AICP helped develop to cover negative insurance, and whether these initiatives originate as a national undertaking or as a chapter endeavor, the results reflect the accumulated experience of AICP members, and serve to benefit the entire industry.
