Jay was appointed as Vice-President, Brand Marketing, for Smirnoff and Nurture Brands in 2016. In his role, Jay leads the North America marketing and business team for the World’s #1 Vodka and Diageo’s biggest brand by volume. In addition to his functional responsibilities, Jay has a strong passion for diversity and inclusion. He was instrumental in creating the LGBTQ-focused “Love Wins” campaign for the Smirnoff brand in partnership with the Human Rights Council, and is proud that Diageo was honored with the Corporate Equality Award.
Jay came to Diageo from Procter & Gamble where he was the Director of the COVERGIRL brand, returning the business to growth through new and exciting partnerships, such as the NFL and The Hunger Games. He previously led the portfolio digital strategy across P&G’s $5B beauty business, relaunched the company’s iconic Ivory brand, delivered significant growth on Olay’s anti-aging business and developed the health and beauty strategy for its Walmart stores division.
Jay is known as an innovative marketer with expertise in transforming big brands through advanced digital, retail, media and entertainment marketing. He has received numerous industry awards, including personal recognition as a “Rising Star” by the ANA and a “40 under 40” top marketer by Ad Age.
Jay graduated from the University of Chicago and previously worked in the dynamic world of Chicago politics. He has served as an advisor to a multicultural children’s media company and organic health food company. Jay is proudly multicultural, with Mexican and Indian parents, and a member of the LGBTQ community.
