Director and Production Designer of numerous commercials and music videos. For two decades artists from Busta Rhymes to LeAnn Rimes have relied on his keen visual aesthetic, inventiveness and enthusiasm to create hit-making media content. His work as Art director/Director for The Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Boys II Men catapulted the Pop Charts. He has Directed commercials for many corporate brands. Some of which are Philip Morris USA, Visa, Chrysler, Dr. Pepper, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Future Shop, and Smart Money. Joe Rey’s extensive Production Design work has earned him veteran status and has helped form an A-List of visual influences. Past Production Design clientele include Directors Joseph Kahn, Marcus Nispel, Hype Williams and David Cornell. Along with Joseph Kahn, Marcus Nispel and Bob Giraldi he has also co-Directed music videos, advancing his film-making skills to the next level. His career began in Philadelphia, in the late 80’s. At a young age, and as an intern to Garret Brown, the inventor of the Steady Cam, Joe Rey began his work as Production Designer. With projects in New York and Los Angeles, he built his own bi-coastal scene shop, A.C.M.E. Art Dept. Joe Rey currently makes his home in Portland, Oregon where he and his partner, designer Heather Harrison, collaborate on many projects; including the raising of their two young daughters. |
