AICP
SHOW CALL FOR ENTRIES TO BOW
Commercial Producers to Honor Spot-makers at the Met in
June
AICP Announces New Music Category
Show to Accept Internet Entries via Beam TV
DECEMBER
29, 2003, NEW YORK, NY - The New Year will usher
in an expanded Call for Entries to the AICP Show, The
Art & Technique of the American Television Commercial,
with a new category recognizing musical arrangements, and
an opportunity for Show entrants to submit their spots over
the internet, via Beam TV.
This is the thirteenth annual AICP Show, an event of the Association
of Independent Commercial Producers that celebrates
the craft of commercial film production and the professionals
whose visions shape the industry. The Call for Entries
will be available online January 5th at www.aicp.com
or at www.beam.tv.
The deadline for entries is Friday, February 13th.
Established in 1992, in cooperation with The Museum of Modern
Art (MoMA) in New York, the AICP Show recognizes excellence
in commercial filmmaking, focusing on technical expertise
and the artistic application of that expertise. The honored
commercials are made part of the permanent archives of the
museum's Department of Film and Media. During MoMA's recent
reconstruction, the Show moved its debut to The Metropolitan
Museum of Art in New York City. 2004 will be the Show's last
year at the Met before returning to MoMA in its newly renovated
quarters in 2005. The Show premiere will take place June 14th
at the Met.
ÏWe're very excited about the new features we're adding to
the Show this year, said Show Chairperson Joanne Ferraro
of Coppos Films. The addition of Musical Arrangement rounds
out our other musical honors Original Music and Sound
Design and fills in what the music industry saw as a
gap in our music honors. Plus, by enabling our entrants to
send in their commercials using Beam TV, we are providing
a real convenience for those who prefer to use online submissions.
The new category was proposed to the AICP Show Board of Governors
by members of AMP, the Association of Music Producers, which
is an affiliate of AICP. The addition of Musical Arrangement,
defined as Ïa uniquely creative arrangement or adaptation
of a pre-existing musical work with or without lyrics, raises
the total number of Show categories to 24.
In addition to the honored commercials, the AICP Show traditionally
features other artistic contributions. For the 2004 Show,
the advertising campaign has been created by freelance art
director and writer Ian Plimsoll. Music on the final reel
will be composed by Sacred Noise; and the opening credits
will be designed by Click 3X.
Entries may be submitted, starting January 5th. Tickets for
the AICP Show & Lecture Series go on sale the beginning of
May. Further information is available at 212-929-3000.
