EPOCH FILMS' MINDY GOLDBERG TO SERVE
AS CHAIRWOMAN OF 15TH ANNUAL AICP SHOW
NEW YORK, OCTOBER 31, 2005 - The Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) has announced that Mindy Goldberg, president and co-owner of Epoch Films, will serve as chairwoman for the 15th Annual AICP Show, The Art & Technique of the American Television Commercial. The Show debuts June 8, 2006, at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
Established in 1992, in cooperation with MoMA, the AICP Show recognizes excellence in commercial filmmaking, focusing on technical expertise and the artistic application of that expertise. The honored commercials are made part of the permanent archives of the museum's Department of Film and Media.
"For the past 16 years, I've considered myself and Epoch to be a little renegade, at least somewhat under the radar. So you can imagine how surprised I was to be asked to chair the 2006 AICP awards show," Goldberg says. "But now that I've adjusted my self-perception, I'm diving in headfirst. The fact is I am incredibly excited and proud to be a part of creating this yearís Show."
Goldberg launched Epoch in 1989 with a Nike spot directed by her partner Jeff Preiss for Wieden+Kennedy. Today, Epoch Films has production offices in New York, Los Angeles and London, and Goldberg is proud to say, it has become a leading commercial production company with a clientele of top agency and corporate clients, and many advertising industry awards to its credit. Recently the company produced its first feature film, JUNEBUG, helmed by Epoch veteran director Phil Morrison, and selected for competition in this yearís Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival and Edinburgh Film Festival. The film, which has already garnered critical acclaim, has been released in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics.
As chairwoman of the 15th Annual AICP Show, Goldberg assumes a post that is a job as well as an honor. She leads a 32-person Show Committee and is responsible for recommending policies and speakers, reviewing marketing materials, and promoting the event, as well as selecting the companies that provide editorial, graphics, and music to the final reel. She also serves on the Showís Board of Governors, which is the final arbiter, charged with ensuring the quality of the Show and adherence to its rules.
ìWe've assembled a great Show Committee, including many new people who have insight into the important creative work being done by our community," Goldberg says. "With their help, we can ensure the Show presents a wide range of work that is recognized and celebrated.î
Members of the Show Committee serving with Mindy Goldberg include: Pia Alexander, Human; Andy Arkin, Blah! blah? (BlahÖ); Tara Averill, Anonymous Content; Dana Balkin, Biscuit Filmworks; Meredith Bergman, Tool of North America; Roe Bressan, Navigating; Ned Brown, Rock Fight; Jennifer Burak, Getty Images; Maddi Carlton, HSI Productions; Brian Carmody, Smuggler; Carol Case, GSP/Playroom; Maxine Cherlin, Post Millennium; Charlie Curran, Crossroads Films; Mary Eiff, The Artists Company; Joanne Ferraro, Blue Rock; Doug Halbert, Epoch Films; John Johnston, Eastman Kodak Company, Entertainment Imaging; Marguerite Juliusson, Marguerite Juliusson & Companies; Saffron Kenny, A Very Small Office; Sharon Lew, Crossroads Films; Rick Lopes, The Lopes Picture Company; Joe Masi, Identity; Diane McArter, Furlined; Sheryl Myers, Comotion Films; Linda Rafoss, Version 2 Editing; Jill Reehl, Get Reehl; Jerry Solomon, Epoch Films; Deborah Sullivan, @radical.media; Alistair Thompson, The Mill, New York; Christy Van House, Hest & Kramer Music; and Mal Ward, Epoch Films.
