Charles Melcher is the founder and director of Future of StoryTelling (FoST), a passionate community that celebrates storytelling and its evolution in the digital age. FoST produces the annual invitation-only FoST Summit in New York, as well as exhibitions, an annual series of short films, tech tastings, regular influencer salons, storytelling workshops, and social media content aimed at FoST’s network of over a million enthusiastic followers.
Melcher is also the founder and CEO of Melcher Media, Inc., an award-winning book producer, app developer, video maker, and branded content company. Melcher Media works with leading brands (including Lexus, Facebook, PepsiCo, and Microsoft), media companies (Netflix, HBO, Condé Nast, and Time Warner), and individual authors (Oprah Winfrey, Garth Brooks, J.J. Abrams, and Lin-Manuel Miranda) to help them tell their stories and connect with large audiences. The company has won numerous design awards and has produced 29 New York Times best sellers.
Melcher was also a founding partner of Push Pop Press, a software company that collaborated with Melcher Media on the iOS app Al Gore—Our Choice. The app was a best seller and top-grossing title in the App Store and received Apple’s award for best designed app. Push Pop Press was acquired by Facebook in 2011.
A graduate of Yale University, Melcher regularly speaks at conferences and festivals worldwide on the intersection of technology and storytelling. He serves on the board of the immersive theater company Punchdrunk and is an angel investor in tech start-ups.
