Hired in 1990 as the first publisher of SHOOT when it was spun off from Back Stage, Griefer ran SHOOT for 14 years for a global media company where she was Sr. VP of the media group prior to making the bold (crazy) move to acquire it in January 2005 convincing her husband who also has a publishing background to be her partner. During her ongoing tenure she has witnessed first hand--and adapted SHOOT to best cover--the coming together of the advertising and entertainment sectors, the crossover of talent, the emergence of platforms and the changing relationships among production companies, ad agencies, clients, and the entertainment community.
SHOOT Magazine, SHOOTonline.com, epubs including The SHOOT>e.dition, The SHOOT Publicity Wire and the new MySHOOT talent database are authoritative industry resources for ad agency creatives & producers and commercial & entertainment production/post decision-makers at brands, companies, movie studios, cable/TV networks, OTT services and independent filmmakers. Covering news, great work, trends, creative techniques/applications and technology with a focus on talent with behind-the-scenes looks at the best new work and the talented people behind the work. Discovering new talent has always been an integral part of SHOOT’s ongoing mission and one of the ways SHOOT uncovers new talent is through its annual New Directors Search held each year from January-March in which all types of commercial and entertainment content is entered by filmmakers directing less than three years. To showcase the best work, SHOOT holds its annual New Directors Showcase every May at the DGA Theater in NYC. The 16th Annual SHOOT New Directors Showcase Event took place on 5/24/18: https://nds.shootonline.com/
Prior to SHOOT, Griefer was group publisher at a trade publishing company overseeing and launching publications for the domestic and international cable and television industries after a brief stint in consumer publishing overseeing sales for record label and movie studio accounts.
