Adam M. Cohen is a partner in the firm and chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. He regularly represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property law (trademark and branding, copyright, trade secret, patent licensing and litigation, publicity and privacy rights) in a variety of industry sectors including fashion apparel and footwear, retail, contemporary art, publishing, media and entertainment, restaurants and food, consumer products, law enforcement and military products, advertising and commercial production, public relations, luxury goods, software and technology.
Adam regularly acts as outside general counsel to clients and, in such capacity, quarterbacks all of their legal needs by marshaling the broad resources of the firm. He specializes in assisting brands to act strategically and proactively. He has deep ties to the industries in which he practices. During his career he has helped countless companies succeed by giving clients one-stop shopping and a multi-disciplinary approach.
Among other endeavors, Adam is involved in the procurement, protection and conveyance of intellectual property through licensing, acquisition and sale, joint ventures, franchising, assignments and other intellectual property transactions; general intellectual property counseling; intellectual property litigation before the federal and state trial and appellate courts, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and various arbitration associations; the rendering of formal legal opinions; general commercial counseling; and the prosecution of trademark and copyright registration applications,.
Adam speaks and writes regularly on intellectual property and industry specific issues. He has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers – New York Metro Edition for the years 2013-2018.
Prior to law school, Mr. Cohen worked as a magazine editor and freelance writer.
