Michael Sagol

Caviar

Executive Producer/Managing Partner
Area of Expertise: Production, Production Management

Michael Sagol is an Executive Producer and Managing Partner of Caviar, an independent film studio with offices based in Los Angeles, London, Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam.  Sagol, a dual citizen of Belgium and the United States, graduated from Emerson before moving to Los Angeles and running a service company for European companies looking to shoot in LA. After meeting fellow Belgian Bert Hamelinck on a commercial shoot, the two decided to join forces and launch Caviar in 2004. Since then, Michael has built a reputation for spotting and nurturing talent, having signed the likes of Chloe Zhao, Jody Hill, Jonathan Krisel, Ruben Fleischer, Jorma Taccone and Jason Woliner before they received their big breaks. His ethos revolves around the fact that talent is talent: someone who has only worked on movies can do commercials; someone who has only worked on commercials can do a movie. He believes Caviar is comprised of filmmakers and storytellers, and those skills can apply to whatever medium they choose.

Under Sagol’s leadership, Caviar has worked with notable clients like Apple, Nike, Playstation, Ikea, adidas and Gucci within its commercial client base; Jay-Z, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry within its music portfolio; and produced Sound of Metal, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, The Rider and Netflix’s Cheer within its film and TV. Caviar has picked up more than 50 Cannes Lions and countless other industry awards in addition to two Oscars, three Independent Spirit Awards, a BAFTA and a Gotham Award for director Darius Marder’s debut feature film, Sound of Metal.
