Area of Expertise: Directing, Art Direction
Mike Warzin has been making films since the fifth grade when he set up two VCRs and a mixer in his basement to edit and place soundtracks on his home videos. We almost lost him to another field, but thankfully he got kicked out of Purdue University after three semesters of bad decisions (and even worse grades) to pursue a practical degree in film and photography from Columbia College Chicago. Following school, he worked as a commercial editor in Chicago before realizing a life behind an edit bay is a life he was not very much into.
Warzin’s career in advertising took off in 2008 when he and twelve others were accepted into Wieden+Kennedy’s prestigious WK12 program. WK 12 served as a crash course into commercial making—Warzin maintains that he’s never worked so hard at something in his life—and it paid off. Following the program he stayed on at Wieden+Kennedy as an art director and writer on Nike for nearly five years before transitioning to a senior creative role at Anomaly in New York City. His work as a creative for Nike, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Budweiser gained awards and recognition from Cannes Lions, AICP, the Clios, the Effie Awards, and the D&AD's. Throughout this time, Warzin was fortunate to collaborate with and learn from A-list directors, DPs, and editors, many of whom were encouraging of his own desire to direct. Ultimately, he took their advice and since then has completed projects for Nike, Brand Jordan, Bud Light, KFC, Adidas, Little Caesars, Google and many more. He’s been with Arts & Sciences since January 2017.
