AICP Launches Blog to Track Coronavirus Updates; Pauses Events
March 16, 2020, NEW YORK, N.Y. – The AICP announced today that for the time being all of its in-person events and programming are paused. This includes the AICP Awards, which comprises AICP Post Awards (originally scheduled for May 6th) and AICP Week, which includes the AICP Show and AICP Next Awards, as well as Base Camp programming (originally scheduled for June 9th-June 11th).
“The AICP Awards programs are an opportunity to celebrate craft, thought leadership and above all else, community. At this time, protecting the community is paramount,” noted Matt Miller, President and CEO of AICP, who worked in consultation with the AICP National Board of Directors to make this decision. “The Awards and other programs are not being cancelled at this time, only moved to a more appropriate time.” AICP will issue updates as they become available.
Miller also outlined a Coronavirus/COVID-19 resource blog (accessed through the homepage of aicp.com) with specific issues and guidance that is available to all in the industry, and not limited to its members. The blog – updated numerous times a day – is a repository of information for those seeking information about commercial production and post production. AICP staff and professionals are working to gather and post information as frequently as possible.
“The past few days have been challenging and unprecedented,” said Miller. “We have shared this resource with marketers, agencies, unions and employee groups and we encourage all to share as far and as wide as possible – this resource is for the benefit of the entire industry as we try to work through these times.”
